Choosing the Right Roofing System

Choosing the Right Roof System

Choosing the right roofing system for your facility can be difficult without some help from the pros. Because new roofs and re-roofing projects are expensive propositions, getting the most bang for your buck requires careful assessment. Fortunately, North American Roofing specialists are trained to evaluate your building’s physical aspects, your business goals and aesthetic desires, and incorporate those with your budget.

Certain factors are a consideration whether you’re in the preliminary information-gathering stage or you’re ready to go forward with your roofing project.

  • Location and Weather: Prevailing weather patterns are a consideration in choosing a roof. There is no effective one-size-fits-all roofing system because geographic variations in wind velocity, potential snow load and annual rainfall all figure into choosing the right roofing system. Even things like roof orientation or whether nearby trees will shade the roof are important factors.
  • Facility Use: A retail business has different roofing needs than those of a storage facility. While both require leak-free roofs, the retail business needs a roof that provides a comfortable environment for customers and staff.  The right roof for a manufacturing enterprise might not be sufficient for a shopping center, a hospital or a school building.
  • Roof Traffic: Some roofs have very little traffic, while others require walkways that provide access to rooftop units. Roofs with high foot traffic needs require additional structural pathway support.
  • Maintenance Requirements: All roofs need regular periodic maintenance, but not all roof systems can be successfully maintained by an in-house crew. This isn’t an issue, however, when you choose to enroll in North American Roofing’s RoofGuard Preventative Maintenance program.
  • Energy Savings: In today’s economy, everyone wants to save money on utility costs, and if that’s an important factor for you, a cool roof or a reflective roof might be beneficial. Beefed-up insulation and photovoltaic (PV) systems can also help you achieve your energy goals.

Your future facility plans are also important in choosing the right roofing system. If you want to sell the facility soon, initial roofing cost is an important factor. In that case, your building might be a candidate for roof coating or a liquid-applied roofing membrane.

If you plan to retain ownership and operations for up to 10-15 years, roof replacement becomes more attractive, and if you plan to own the building for 20 years or longer, it pays to invest in a roof system that has a long service life and a long-term warranty.

At the end of the day, you want a roof that protects your assets and your investment, and that’s where we shine. We earned our reputation for being the most trusted roofing company in the United States because we put our customers first. Highly-trained North American Roofing specialists will evaluate your facility and help you choose the system that best suits your building, your needs and your budget. Double GAF Awards for Excellence in 2013

GAF Master Select

We don’t need awards to tell us that we’re on the right track – but we sure do appreciate them! We’re especially honored when they come from GAF, the largest roofing manufacturer in North America. Fewer than 1% of all roofing companies in the United States meet GAF’s stringent qualifications for “Master Select” status. This year, as in past years, we’ve won two of their most prestigious awards.

According to Jim Slauson, VP of GAF’s Certified Program and Services, North American Roofing’s “dedication to helping property owners better understand their roofing options and make educated roofing decisions” was instrumental in netting us their Master Select “Systems Protection Excellence” award. Slauson tells us that it’s our dedication “to helping every customer make their best and safest roofing decision” that made us the clear winner.

The second award, GAF’s Master Select “Installation Excellence Award” goes only to contractors that have no property owner complaints or incidents in the past year of service. We can’t express how proud we are of our track record of customer satisfaction. Under all the glamour and glitz of winning theses highly coveted awards – that’s what it’s all about – putting our customer’s first. Receiving this GAF award reinforces our motto that the customer is always right.

We’d like to thank GAF for recognizing our commitment to installation excellence and to superior customer service. In addition, we’d like to thank our very own highly trained roofing specialists for another job well done. We work hard to live up to our reputation for being the most trusted and respected roofing company in the U.S.

Certified Renewable Energy Professional, Jason Campbell, Heads Up Solar Energy Services Group

Solar Energy Services

Asheville, NC – May 8, 2013 – Jason Campbell, an expert in designing and installing solar energy systems for commercial applications, has joined North American Roofing to lead the Solar Energy Services Group, the company announced today.

Campbell’s eight years of technical energy experience in the field of renewable energy and energy efficiency is extensive, including the management of 150 solar and wind projects for an architectural and environmental firm in Arizona, renewable energy system design, permitting and purchasing, and development and management of large to medium scale LEED projects for government and major corporations. He is certified by the National Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NBCEP) and holds a Bachelors of Science-Environmental Science with emphasis on Appropriate Technology from Humboldt State University, Arcata, CA.

By working directly with national manufacturers of high caliber solar arrays and components, the company’s Solar Energy Services Group “gives developers and engineers a partner in creating, designing, installing and performing preventative maintenance through our SolarGuard program on solar projects anywhere in the U.S.,” according to Campbell.

As the former Solar Sales Manager with LightWave Solar Electric in Nashville, and the Business Development Manager with EnerNOC in Boston, Jason will be working to build a strong sales team with the goal to position North American Roofing as one of the nation’s largest energy integration companies. “North American Roofing is now positioned to not only be the commercial roofer of choice, but we can also help with permitting, purchasing, rebates, utility interconnection, all the components in building a truly integrated solar system,” he said.

In addition to new commercial roof installation, North American Roofing also offers retrofitting expertise and recommendations when it comes to retrofitting or replacing existing roofs. “From an engineering standpoint, it is absolutely critical that leaks or weight concerns be addressed on existing roof systems before anything is installed,” Campbell said.
