This project required a tear-off of all existing roofing down to the insulation, including all ballast from the surface. High-level executives from SNL Financial have their offices in an adjacent building and most look down on this particular rooftop. It was important that we install a more aesthetically pleasing membrane color, as well as a vegetative roofing system to lessen the eye sore of an old ballasted roof.
The SNL Financial building is located in a historic district of Charlottesville, requiring North American to abide by local codes as the job was specified and installed. The jobsite had to be managed very sensitively to minimize the impact on city neighbors as the downtown location made it a tough load and demo access.
