Boar's Head Provisions Co. had a processing plant in Virginia. Relative to the size of the facility, the section of the roof that needed to be replaced was small. However small the job was in square feet, it made up for it in difficulty. The number of penetrations and pipe lines on the roof were obstacles from the start, and the entire underside of the deck had to be sealed off completely from the inside of the building.
Our solution was to tear off the existing assembly down to the steel deck in one section, and completely replace the decking in two other sections. All the existing gravel, and even vegetation, had to be swept and shoveled by hand from the rooftop.
We installed the new decking, two layers of polyisocyanurate insulation, DensDeck and finally a Fibertite 90-mil KEE membrane.
